Yuri Mania 32: Kuttsukiboshi 1

Gokigenyou minna. Sasshiburi desu. It's been a while since my last yuri-related post... So I figured I'll load this post with as many yuri things as possible! First up is the recent release of the first Kuttsukiboshi OVA. This is made by the same studio that created Issho ni Training: Training with Hinako, Studio Primastea. And of course its follow up Issho ni Sleeping... This OVA was officially released on the 16th of August in Japan, but early copies were available at Comiket 78 (Information via AnimeNation News & Anime News Network). Now mind you, this OVA is really rough looking. One could say it's a doujinshi anime. The story is still excellent and you still get the yuri fan service. This story takes place just as summer began. So with that out of the way, let's get to the characters!

Our heroine, Kawakami Kiiko
The main character, Kawakami Kiiko, has a secret... She has telekinetic powers! She somehow acquired it when she got into an accident the year before. She actually has another secret; she loves her best friend, Saitou Aaya!

Kiiko fell in love at first sight.

Perverted best friend, Saitou Aaya.
Aaya just transferred school this spring, but quickly made friends with Kiiko, whom she affectionately calls "Kii-chan". She found out about Kiiko's powers and began conducting experiments with her powers in order to keep Kiiko's secret. Later on Kii-chan finds out that Aaya is quite the pervert as well :P

Aaya likes to experiment.

One afternoon, the two of them fell asleep under a tree. When Kii-chan was awake, she was tempted to steal her (first?) kiss from Aaya. You'll have to see for yourself what happens next. It's part of the fun! From this moment on, they became a couple.

Later on, Aaya gave Kiiko an interlinked pair of stars. She puts them around her neck and told Kiiko to try to split them apart with her powers.

And soon after they went right into love making again. Aaya's becoming quite the pervert taking on the lead.

The ecchi scenes don't go as far as the recent Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke o but still good enough to titillate.

There's even a skinny dipping scene!
The next day Aaya wasn't feeling well, so Kiiko came and visit her home (very reminiscent of Sono Hanabira) and suggested a CD that she liked...

Which ironically belongs to Aaya's musician brother. What a coincidence!

For now I'll leave Kuttsukiboshi with this footsie scene because I don't want to spoil what's going to happen. Let's just say, Kiiko probably wished she didn't have her power... Maybe.

It is quite a short OVA at just a little over 20 minutes, but it's jampacked with a lot of details on the story through Aaya and Kiiko's conversations and it created enough story to hook you even until the end. Unfortunately the second OVA won't be released until next summer... WHY!?!? I do think the character design and animation look really cheap. It's almost as if one person worked on it (maybe I'm not too far off). Though I've forgotten my complaints about the art style after the first kiss and the subsequent ecchi scenes. Give it a try! Check out the trailer below.

Next up is the Maria-sama ga Miteru live action movie updates! Thanks to Yi who linked some updates and behind-the-scenes photos from the MariMite movie on Twitter!
The super famous crooked-tie-fixing-scene! Onee-sama! Photo from Akiba Kakaku.

I really, really like the actress who's playing Rosa Gigantea, Saitou Sei! She looks like a perfect fit for the character, even prettier perhaps! Photo from Akiba Kakaku.

I would include more behind-the-scenes photos, but perhaps it's better showing them all in one video =D

I still have some reservation for live action anime movies, but I am actually excited for this one!

Lastly is a few scenes from episode 8 of Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi. Enjoy! Until next time... Gokigenyou!

  3. I've been holding back on watching Kuttsukiboshi because of the long wait that would come. Plus, I'm a bit nervous about the musician brother...

The Marimite live action adaptation looks amazing. I'll definitely try to make time for it when it's released.

Anyways, how much yuri is actually in Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi? I didn't think it was a yuri anime at all, but I haven't checked it out.

  4. @Yi: Oh yeah... Good idea. I should've waited with Kuttsukiboshi too then. I hope I remember it next year ^^;

I hope MariMite does not look corny as the trailer make it look T-T

And not a lot of yuri in Ookami-san, but Ringo (the red riding hood) does seem very close to Ookami ^^; Oh and the voice of Kuroko is the narrator ;)
